The Droid Incredible I've Been Looking For

Link to GalleryOkay, I'm not the first to make that joke, but dammit, I think it's funny. Verizon's got a new go-to device on the Android front. The Droid Incredible is now official on the Big Red. Let me be clear about this: The Droid Incredible is the best Android device you can get as of April 29th in the US. In fact, it might be the best Android device you can get globally (Since the EVO 4G from Sprint isn't out until Summer).

Running Android 2.1 with HTC's beautiful Sense UI, the Incredible turns an incomplete half-awesome stock Android 2.1 experience into a fully-fledged smartphone spit-polished til it sparkles. All of the Sense 2.1 features have been covered at length after the HTC Desire and Legend launch, so I won't touch on those. The hardware, though, is spankin' new. The screen is the same found in the Nexus one, and the innards are very similar, with a few exceptions like the 8GB internal storage. The processor is the same 1GHz Snapdragon found in the Nexus One and the Desire. In fact, the Incredible has much more in common with the Desire than the Nexus One, and I think that's a great thing.

When the Desire launched, all of us in the US were drooling over it wondering if it would ever come here. Well, here it is. The casing is drastically different from anything HTC has done before, but with the same attention to detail. It's very much in line with the raw masculine Droid motif Verizon has been running with. The back is almost rubberized, giving it a grippy feel. Seems like we're getting a new phone to beat almost weekly, but I'm not complaining over here.

Seriously, if you're on Verizon and don't need a physical keyboard, get the Incredible.
