One of my very favorite startups, Aardvark, has just been picked up by Google for a cool $50 million. Aardvark is a social answer service that allows any user to post a question in plain English to its users. When users sign up, they select categories of questions they might be able to help in answering. Based on these selections, and the user's geolocation, Aardvark delivers your question to users who might have expertise in the field.
Helping folks out on Aardvark is one of my favorite things to do. On the iPhone, the app delivers a push notification when it thinks it's got a question you can answer, or you can cycle recent questions. Aardvark, for now, is remaining untouched and will continue to function for the time being. Google hasn't made a point of broadcasting what use they have for the service, but it's bound to be something great.
Go check out Aardvark, and let us know what you think in the comments.
