Obsolete Standard Says What?

VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) just unveiled the new standard for DisplayPort and HDMI's head is spinning. The new standard is the first to support a whopping FOUR monitors per ONE DisplayPort at a resolution of 1920x1200. It doesn't stop there, though. We're also talking FULL HD. Most folks think if the resolution's height is 1080 pixels, that constitutes HD quality. That, unfortunately, is not true. True HD also necessitates a certain level of data and framerates. That said, the new standard supports 120fps-per-channel, and 21.6Gbp/s. Not to mention, it can also serve as a USB hub on account of its support for bi-directional USB data transfer.
So, while HDMI 1.4 is still on the horizon, it's looking like it'll need more help than it can get right now considering how much of a leg up DisplayPort has on it. Now someone just needs to manufacture a device with the damn standard built in.
