This afternoon, Apple announced the iPad. Yes, that's correct, the iPad. Let's get right into facts and specs because opinions will have to have their own blog post.
This afternoon Jobs took the stage as all of the world's dweebs looked on in sheer dumbfounded stupor as he told us the device would be called the iPad. The iPad, as Jobs claims, is the perfect netbook replacement sitting in between the iPhone and a MacBook. The device is boasting some welcome improvements to the iPhone's hardware, but beyond that, it's essentially an oversized iPhone inside and out.
The iPad also sports an optional 3G data connection partnered with AT&T, but the device comes unlocked. If you want to purchase the data plan, it's (thankfully) contract free at $15/mo for 250MB or $30 for unlimited, cancel anytime. The WiFi and 3G devices carry different hardware, so the price tiers are split into two.
The iPad comes in at 6 price points for two different models, and all the specs and some photos are after the jump.
