Seesmic Look Shows Us Another Side Of Twitter

Last week, we covered a tweet from Loic Le Meur alluding to a new product called Seesmic Look. Now, that product is here. Seesmic Look is a new way to ingest Twitter. Aimed at the Oprah crowd, Seesmic "Look"s (get it??) to attempt to bring them into the social space. Seesmic Look is built as a Windows application (Seesmic's second) and very much runs as if it's intended to be a full-screen experience.

What Loic refers to as the "power-user" will still feel comfortable with browsing their followees, and diving into profiles, which look beautiful. Profiles pull the background from the user's twitter page and beautifully incorporate it into Look's interface. Seesmic's provided streams are separated into interests, and sponsored channels. Interests are curated lists by Seesmic separated by topic, while channels are sponsors by major brands and curated by the sponsor, through Seesmic, not using Twitter Lists.

The entire experience seems very much intended to mimic a TV experience. Whether or not this will actually sway the "Oprah crowd", I'm not sure. We'll have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, though, Loic is a very forward thinking fellow, and Seesmic Look is a very ambitious project. To many, Twitter is still perceived as an ego trip and not a rich source of information. This may help bridge that gap.
