Twitter's Suggested User List Gets Made Over

Twitter's highly controversial Suggested User List has finally received its long-awaited makeover. The list is not broken down into categories, so as to not to seem quite so arbitrary to the new user. Gone also is the ability to mass-follow users. That is now done on a per-user basis. Arguably the most interesting shift, though is the movement from a human-curated list to the use of algorithms to determine which users are most popular in their respective field. Plus, it's not longer just a random 20 users from one list that are presented. It's now much simpler to actually be able to find folks that you might want to follow, although you might have better luck with that at a dedicated directory service like WeFollow. Should a user drop off and stop interacting, they will be automatically dropped off the list. This new model should serve as a much less controversial, fool-proof way of suggesting content to new users without generating competition to get on the list.
