HTC Wildfire Leaks, Gets Official

What you need to know:
• This Monday morning, a German press conference broke an embargo on the HTC Wildfire
• The Wildfire is an entry level, very affordable HTC smartphone running Android 2.1 with Sense UI and a candybar form factor, a sort of HTC Desire-mini
• Qualcomm MSM7225 processor clocked at 525MHz
• 3.2-inch QVGA touchscreen
• 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
• 802.11b/g WiFi, GPS/AGPS, Blueooth 2.1+EDR
• 512MB Flash and 384MB of RAM, and microSD expansion
• After the leak, the phone got official on T-Mobile in the UK for £20 ($29)/mo.

Very nice device, but again, not available in the UK. But if it did launch on an affordable carrier, this could be a great device for students who are looking for something affordable, yet don't want to compromise too much in the vein of functionality. Press release after the jump!

myTouch 3G Slide Official On T-Mobile

T-Mobile users will be familiar by now with the myTouch. It was the keyboardless younger brother of the G1 also known as the HTC Magic. Well, the myTouch's successor has been making the rounds and is now official. The myTouch 3G Slide maintains a similar form factor while adding a comfortable-looking physical keyboard. This little guy is also running (thankfully) Android 2.1. Though, it is running a skinned version of it which does add some new functionality like a T-Mobile "myFaces" gallery, "myModes" for ring/vibrate profiles, and  a "Genius Button" which is an amped up voice control implementation. Engadget does say, though that the Genius Button was some of the best voice-to-text they'd seen. The device also swaps the trackball for an optical trackpad which is the current trend in the industry.

Motorola Cliq XT Coming To T-Mobile

Known as the Motorola Quench outside of the US, the Motorola Cliq XT wil be hitting T-Mobile within the next 2 months to serve as the successor to the Cliq (or Dext overseas). The Cliq was Motorola's first strike back as an underdog, and while it was mildly impressive at the time, its time has long since passed with other Android devices like the Nexus One, and Motorola's own Droid running 2.0+. MotoBLUR is built on Android 1.5 and 1.6, so we haven't yet seen an update to the social skin to accommodate Android 2.0.

So, with the Cliq showing its age, Motorola dishes out yet another Android 1.5 MotoBLUR device to replace it. The Cliq XT doesn't look half bad for someone just looking to make the jump from featurephone to smartphone, but for a real superuser, it just doesn't cut it. Motorola better step up their game. They had something good going with the Droid before Google stole their thunder with the Nexus One. Although, to be fair, they may be slightly preoccupied right now.

Press video and release after the jump.

Doubletwist Catches A Ride On The Nexus One

Remember Doubletwist? I'm sure you do. They're the killer cross-platform app to sync your iTunes library to non-iDevices. They just struck a deal with T-Mobile to be the flagship syncing program for Android users. And they did it with good reason, too. Doubletwist, while not entirely perfect is easily the best iTunes surrogate if you're not using and iPhone or iPod, touch or otherwise.

Doubletwist is what I use to sync my Droid and they make the process painless. This is a great move for them especially since they also support a myriad of other devices, not just Android, including WebOS, Blackberry and even PSP. You can check out a whole list here.
