Earlier this week, a bug in twitters system was uncovered by a Turkish user, exposing a very vulnerable part of twitter's infrastructure allowing a user to force another user to follow them. A Turkish twitter user, who only wanted to express his love for Turkish band "Accept" tweeted the phrase "Accept pwnz". Though, instead of seeing the tweet post to his timeline, he noticed that he had a new follower with the username "pwnz".

And they're cooking up some Blackbird Pie. Sounds gross, but it's actually quite neat. Earlier this week, Twitter teased they would be rolling out a feature to allow tweets to be embeddable with all their text and timestamp included. Right now, in order to showcase a tweet, a blogger like you (maybe) or I would have to take a screenshot. But now, Twitter is providing a way to embed a tweet in order to maintain highlightable text, and other Twitter data. Now, you can head to Blackbird Pie, plug in a tweet's URL and be given a block of HTML code for you to pop into your post.

Official Twitter Android App Lands

After Twitter's announcement that we'd be seeing official apps across every platform from the service, we've seen two entries, and one acquisition. Twitter for Blackberry underwhelmed. Tweetie for iPhone was picked up by Twitter and is now being reworked and renamed as Twitter for iPhone. In the meanwhile, Android users have a new app to play with. Twitter for Android went live at the end of last week. The app is certainly polished, though it does lack features a power-user might use.

Since the get-go, folks have been questioning how Twitter is planning to make money. They're a free service offering free invaluable data to brands around the world. Where could they possibly make money? Well, here's the answer. Twitter has finally revealed their monetization model, and it's called Promoted Tweets. Think of it as AdSense for Twitter. Based on searches on Twitter, one Top Tweet will be pegged to the top of the list by advertisers.

Twitter bought Tweetie

I was just sitting around reading various Twitter posts when I saw the news.  I said out loud "Twitter bought Tweetie".  My wife just looked at me and said "What the hell are you talking about?".  I realized how rediculous the sentence sounded and lowered my head in geek shame.  Stupid sounding or not, this is kind of big news.  Twitter has acquired Atebits, the maker of Tweetie.  The popular app has been available for Mac and iPhone for quite some time now and has a great install base.
