Verizon Wireless Consolidating Plans

Verizon is planning on consolidating their often confusing pricing tiers from about 18 down closer to about 6. The biggest news here is the competitive pricing of their unlimited plans. Unlimited talk is now only $70/mo and unlimited talk/text is now $90 which is on par with Sprint's offering at an arguably better rate of quality given Verizon's coverage. This comes coupled with the news that Verizon is now making data plans mandatory for smartphone users, but I'd say that's a fair tradeoff for a %30 price decrease. After all, what good is a smartphone with not data, anyway? Boy Genius Report has a the full rundown of the entire shift.

Just a quick correction. Verizon is not on par with Sprint. Sprint's plans include talk text and web.
